The fact of the matter is Barnett did not act alone .... or without the original sanction of MacDonald and his cabinet's consultation during an Order in Council. As we said, this whole farce was begun because the CONservatives wanted to curry favour with rural voters ... it is purported to be the source of TORY strength. When that support base cried "foul" as well, Barnett agreed to be chastised as the individual solely responsible for this cock-up... so as to pull the PARTY'S collective ass out of the flames of the public firestorm. NOW, Barnett and MacDonald are saying YOUR tax dollars will be returned to YOU. We say that if every last penny is NOT returned ( with interest) the people of Nova Scotia have every right to sue the Progressive CONservative Party of Nova Scotia for the return of those monies. While you're at it ... make that retroactive and go after that 350,000 John Hamm gifted to his friends with the amusement park in his riding.
There are those people ( die hard TORIES ) who thought this was a good thing ... that young people should be taught to handle these ATVs. Consider this : It is a well known fact that the birth rate is DOWN in Nova Scotia, in particular. So, on a basis of cost effectiveness, who is REALLY benefiting here ? It sure as hell isn't the people of Nova Scotia. Other than providing a damn good profit for some TORY who happens to own a dealership, what economic value does 66 pint sized ATVs contribute to this province?
REMEMBER FOLKS: The ONLY reason this waste of public money was rescinded is because YOU made it a point to make your displeasure known and MacDonald and his band of thieves and liars are so deep in the shit ( literally and figuratively) they'll NEVER dig out. Kick their asses out at the next election. BUT DO NOT make the same mistake Nova Scotians have always made in the past by giving a majority position of power to any of the other parties who want power, because they will do the same thing. More particularly, who is the TORY friend who sells ATVs that supplied these and made a shit load of profit ... 10% of which was kicked back to the Nova Scotia Progressive(?) CONservative Party election coffers?

When no one is looking, you can bet that the children/grandchildren of the party faitful will all be treated to new ATVs to play with.

Stephane Dion rolled the dice Thursday on his future as Liberal leader, unveiling a complex and politically risky plan to wean Canadians off fossil fuels.
Dion never rolled the dice, he ran over himself and the liberal party with a steam roller, crushing any chance of being elected. All political parties are either playing head games with the taxpayers and we do not have an environmental crisis or an oil shortage or we do, so which is it?
We have in Canada two new little electric vehicle companies trying to set up shop and sell their autos to the Canadian consumer and what are all of these political parties doing about it? Nothing, so what does that tell you?
Zenn motors, a Canadian owned electric car business has been trying to market their car to us for several years now and the Minister of Department of Transport and that bureaucracy have been doing everything possible to kill this company, why? Who has to be bought off within the “government” before this can happen? And is the CAW behind a lobby to keep this little guy out?
What would this little car do for Canada , well it could do what the Avero Aero could have, remember the Aero, it was killed by a political party that was more interested in having its party cronies greased before the economic future of Canada.
Dion , Harper, Layton and May like to use the environment and the fuel shortage to scare the hell out of us, thus taking Canadians down “their” road and not the road that would truly address the problem. Think about it, can you imagine a political party that has used the taxation system to extort taxes out of us, that has ever truly return those taxes? No you cannot and you never will.
What is more sickening about this country of late is , is the media are going right along with these dirty political parties to help them sell this political fear and we are taking it right up the ass, don’t you think it is time we woke to hell up?

Has anyone noticed how fast the fuel price crisis has emerged as the dominating horror story in the news? And, of course, as the price of gasoline, diesel and home heating oil escalates, it’s taking everything else from electrical power to food up with it.
In Nova Scotia, it was a Tory who gave away OUR power company to corporate terrorists like Huskilson, who gets more in “bonuses” for being CEO of Emera than most of us will ever earn in a lifetime. “Emera” … has that same ring as ENRON … without any of the negative consequences.
The strange thing is that this has all happened within a time line of less than a year … in the scale of things, almost “over night”.
Someone is making a concerted effort to leave all of us “freezing our arses off in the dark” as we slowly die of malnutrition … and some of outright hunger.
Which begs the question: How did organized crime get its tentacles into what used to be our government? Through the party system stupid.
Not too many years ago in Canada it was a western politician who spouted such invective directed specifically to “those eastern bastards who can all freeze in the dark”. Was that the hateful Ralph Kline or the even more hateful Stephen Harper … or both, with one silently agreeing with the other?
The drunk is out to pasture and too many fools cast a vote in favour of Harper, the spendthrift, war mongering GI Joe doll that is pissing away Canada’s independence dollar by dollar and centimeter by centimeter … and Canadians have totally lost control over their government. Imagine … a Prime Minister who only shows his fat ass for photo ops and has gone so far as to totally ignore everyone ( except, perhaps, CTV’s “Flipper” ) … blatantly dropping all pretense as he ignores laws and the people who voted him into power. Although, if we believe the rumors, Harper’s position was, and is assured by very powerful forces outside this country.
Not that Canadians ever had any real control to begin with.
To some degree, Canadians are getting exactly what they deserve for voting by rote and for allowing themselves to be taken in by this political party or that …who, through media manipulation, false promises and outright lies have managed to gain the positions of power they are abusing us with today.
Instead of “your” governments at the federal and provincial levels doing everything they can to protect us all from usurious prices by the petro-chemical industry, they have become willing participants who eagerly await the next inflated prices for oil and gasoline so they can collect larger and larger taxes that accrue each time they go up. Nova Scotia’s Rodney MacDonald is the all-star shining example of that attitude of greed and unwillingness to empathize with the plight of many who continually get kicked in the gonads by the people he plays with.
Then, to add further fuel to the raging fire of inflation, we have idiots like Stephane Dionne champing at the bit for power so he can levy “carbon taxes”. Does that mean if you get cremated when you die this little piece of shit will be at the door with his hand out, to collect his CARBON TAX ?
Harper’s CONservatives cannot, or will not take the initiative to control things and, obviously, a Liberal government is not equipped either.
If the situation is as bad as THEY would have us all believe, the time has come for all of us to quit running, like manic and confused little sand plovers, from this political party to the others that aren’t in power for solace and leadership.
What is needed is the combining of the best of the best to solve the problems THEY all tell us are here, as one tries to out-fear monger the other in an attempt to go to A party … their party, for the answers and solutions.
It’s high time for every Canadian to quit chuckling, or wringing their hands in futility at what politicians and governments political parties) are allowing to happen in this country. Make them FIX things or get the hell out of the driver’s seat … because, I for one, am fed up with all of you assholes living in your own world and expecting the rest of us to pay the shot.
If, indeed, there is “global warming”, it sure as hell ain’t gonna keep your arse warm in Nova Scotia and across this country when you’re trying to get to your job at McDonalds on your bicycle in the dead of winter.
Or, could the real plan be to bring us all to the brink of extinction, and then offer us all trips to Mexico as part of Harper’s and Bush’s megalomaniacal plan to bring us in to their North American Union … preparatory to a New World Order ?

Hilary Clinton was ordained to win and become the first woman president in U.S. history.
So, what happened?
An educated, articulate and “barely there” black by the name of Barack Obama has swept out Hilary for first place as the Democratic candidate to run against John McCain for the top post of President.
How did Obama manage to knock out a woman as determined as Hilary Clinton for a crack at the presidency?
If you listen to the pundits who can usually speculate and second guess at the drop of a microphone, they will all give you variations on a couple of themes that will make your head spin … as the whole process is designed to do.
One American commentator may have, unwittingly, given the key to Obama’s win when she mentioned that he appealed to the “grass roots” … blah,blah, blah. AND he was also fortunate to have a “lot of small donations come into his campaign from over the internet”.
Yes, it’s probably true the internet does have a significant impact on an election campaign.
The fact that the internet was skillfully utilized by the Republican Party to assure Obama’s win over Hilary is something no one seems to have picked up on yet … until it’s too late (depending on your political biases) … and they are attending McCain’s inauguration ceremonies.
Here’s the HOW and the WHY laid out for you.
The Republicans, under George W. Bush have left a bad taste in the mouth of the American voter, without question. Media speculators have been running their mouths forever … all but guaranteeing this would be a win for the Democrats this time around.
Even some Republicans have conceded McCain can be considered a throw away candidate because of his age, his temper, his health, etc.
On the other hand, there are Republicans, including John McCain, who are serious about winning.
Here’s how they will have done it … won, that is.
Hilary has the higher profile. Those who like her, like her a lot.
It’s said that for every man … there’s a woman. Extrapolating, there are a lot of Hilary supporters, both men and women.
Along comes Obama, a “dark horse” (no pun intended ) who clicks with a lot of people and upsets Hilary’s apple cart. No one genuinely figured on Obama making the inroads that he has.At the outset, there were patronizing Democrats who thought Obama’s candidacy looked good and contributed to the myth of “equality” that is promoted in the United States … along with the latent and rampant, but subtle, racism that is the real shame in that nation.
When it was apparent Obama was making big gains over Hilary, “someone” managed to find a picture of Obama decked out in what appeared to be Muslim threads … subtle innuendo suggesting his supporters should think deeply with second thoughts about electing an enemy (?) alien.
The man prevailed.
Then, Jeremiah was a bigmouth … but he was no friend of Obama’s … who promptly distanced himself from the loud mouth Rev. (My apologies to the late, great Hoyt Axton who did bring joy to the world with his music.)
Still, the man didn’t go away … although the media did its damnedest to help that end along.
Obama had lots of money to continue attenuating Hilary’s thunder.
Hilary borrowed from herself. Hmmmm?
Obama’ s money came from and continues to come from small donations of five, ten, twenty, and up, off the internet … from people who, supposedly, felt compelled to help him succeed.
Those people who keep track of such things say this sort of response is unprecedented … as well they might.
In reality, this is the old, “ Paper, Scissors, Rock ” game brought to life.
A lot of small, “anonymous” donations over the internet continue to sustain the Obama campaign.
Obama beats out Hilary, the strong contender.
That latent racism we mentioned earlier is counted upon … and comes into play as McCain comes up the middle for the win. Racism works in other ways, too ... for every race.
The color of a man’s skin does not necessarily equip him for a political office or predetermine whether he will be an ethical, moral and effective leader. Yet, there are those who would predicate their vote on such bizarre reasoning.
That cogent thought can (and should) be applied to the very white John McCain and the tanned Barack Obama by a (mostly) uninformed electorate.
In fact, racism has been so effective over the years that it has been promoted and used as a method of control by those who firmly believe in “divide and conquer” ( the little people) and elitists will always emerge the victor.
For Canadians, this tactic has long been used by our political parties/governments with Quebec as the star … along with provincial rivalries… but that story is for another day.
The electorate in the United States has shown itself to be open to such manipulation in the past and can always be defeated by using its own moral peccadillos against it.
Those power hungry politicians and party hangers on are employing racism as the sucker punch that will give the American people a government they will soon regret.
People of the United States won’t know what hit them as their economy continues to spiral down the toilet and their gross national product is pissed away on “wars” that another nut job in the White House hopes to keep going … in perpetuity, preferably.
And the paranoid mentality of North American Zealots Incensed will become more prominent as North American Union is jockeyed into place by Heir Harper and his handlers in Washington.

N.S. justice minister apologizes to women’s groups for handling of scrapped bill

HALIFAX (CP) — Justice Minister Cecil Clarke has sent out letters of apology to groups upset by his handling of a scrapped domestic violence bill.Pamela Harrison of the Transition House Association of Nova Scotia received a letter from Clarke, who she says apologized for any misunderstanding his decision to block the bill has caused.Clarke blocked passage because the Liberals didn’t support a Conservative bill dealing with stolen scrap metal.The moved angered women’s group.Clarke has since announced the formation of a domestic violence committee anyway.
